Scary stories in under a minute, with a last line that lands.
Two-sentence horror, “I should not have looked” stories and creepy what-ifs. Clippie writes the short script, draws the dark scenes and reads it in a voice you would not trust.

Sample clips of four dark looks in 9:16, each 6 to 9 seconds of one short story.
Short and frightening. In three steps.

Write the end first
Know your last line, then write backward. In the writer, choose 30s or 45s and the Scary tone, and paste your ending in the idea box so the draft builds toward it.
- 2
Cut it down
Read the draft aloud and remove anything that is not setting up the turn. Short sentences read better at this length.
- 3
Use Fast pacing
Fast cuts every 2 to 3 seconds. Pick bold captions, add one sound effect on the turn, and export at 1080x1920.
Formats that fit in a minute. With ideas to start from.
Four short formats
Each of these has a turn built in, so the viewer stays for the end:
- Two-sentence horror: A normal first sentence, a terrible second. Read it, then show it slowly.
- The rule list: “Rules for the night shift.” Rule three is the one that scares people.
- The POV: Told as “you”: you wake up, your phone has a photo of you sleeping.
- The wrong detail: Everything is fine, until the narrator notices one thing in the room.
Open on the strange part
On a phone, people decide fast. Skip any introduction and start in the middle: “The voice on the baby monitor knew my name.” Put the strongest picture first as well, because that first scene is what people see on the way past.
Turn one idea into a series
Short horror works well as a set: one neighbourhood, one haunted object or one recurring rule. Keep the look and the voice the same so people recognise the next one in their feed. Write each one fresh, though, as platforms pull back on near-identical videos.
Built for the feed. Tuned for the turn.
30 and 45 second scripts
Short presets that the writer sizes to your voice.
Fast pacing
New scenes every 2 to 3 seconds, so there is always something to look at.
Bold captions
One word at a time, with a highlight colour you choose.
Sound effects on words
Place a sound on the exact word where the story turns.
Frequently asked questions.
How long should a scary story video be?
Short enough to deliver one turn: 30 to 60 seconds is common for shorts. If you are aiming for TikTok’s Creator Rewards Program, published guides say videos must run longer than a minute, so use the 1m or 1.5m setting.
What makes a short scary story work?
One place, one wrong detail and a final line that changes what came before. Most short stories fail because they explain too much.
Do you have kid-friendly scary stories?
The writer follows your idea and tone. For a milder story, use the Suspenseful tone with a bright look. Do not aim frightening content at young children, as platforms treat that strictly.
Can I upload my own scary story?
Yes. Paste your script, and Clippie splits it into scenes. Lines stay exactly as you wrote them.
Can I post the same video on all three platforms?
Yes. A 1080x1920 export works on TikTok, Reels and Shorts, with no Clippie watermark on a paid plan.
