Split screen videos made in Clippie: a talking clip over gameplay, with captions.
Two clips. One video.
- 1
Add the main clip
Upload the podcast moment, stream clip or commentary (mp4, mov, avi or webm). Its audio is the audio of the video.

Pick the second clip
Choose gameplay from the library (Minecraft, Subway Surfers, GTA, Roblox and more) or upload your own, and set its speed and position.
- 3
Caption and export
Captions are generated from the main clip in one click. Pick a style, place them between the two halves, and export at 1080x1920.
How to make split screen videos.
Why the format holds attention, how to pick the two halves, and the editor settings.
Why split screen works
A split screen pairs something worth listening to with something worth looking at. The top half is a person talking, a podcast clip, a stream moment or a reaction; the bottom half is gameplay with constant motion. Viewers who would scroll past a talking head stay for the movement, and the captions make the words land with the sound off. It is the format that made podcast clips work on TikTok.
In Clippie the main clip is always on top (or on the left in the side-by-side layout) and provides the audio; the second clip is muted, so nothing competes with the voice.
Choosing the main clip
Pick a self-contained moment: a claim, a story with an ending, a disagreement, a punchline. Thirty to sixty seconds is the usual length, and the first line should be the hook rather than the context. The main clip can be sped up (0.1x to 2x) and repositioned within its half, and the whole video lasts as long as the main clip at its playback speed.
Choosing the second clip
The library has 417 clips in ten categories: Roblox, Minecraft, Subway Surfers, GTA, Fortnite, Temple Run, Mario Kart, cooking and more, in 9:16 and 16:9. Satisfying, repetitive footage works best: parkour, driving, cooking, obbies. Avoid clips with their own on-screen text. Paid plans can upload their own footage, and either clip can be sped up and repositioned so the interesting part sits in its half.
- Minecraft parkour: The default for podcast and story clips; neutral and endlessly watchable.
- Subway Surfers: Faster and brighter; suits comedy and reaction clips.
- GTA driving: Calmer; suits longer, more serious conversations.
Captions between the halves
One click transcribes the main clip and lays word-timed captions over the video, in any of 104 languages with auto-detect. All 17 caption styles are available, with font, colour, stroke, shadow and case controls, and a position slider that puts the captions on the seam between the two halves, where neither clip is covered and the platform UI does not overlap. Three or four words at a time reads best.
Layout and export
Switch between top and bottom and left and right with one toggle. Exports are 1080x1920 at 30 fps with no watermark, ready for TikTok, Reels and Shorts. Drafts autosave, so a batch of clips from one podcast episode can be set up once and exported one by one.
Nothing to line up. Nothing to sync.
Top and bottom, or side by side
One toggle switches the layout. The main clip stays on top or left and carries the audio; the second clip is muted.
417 gameplay clips
Roblox, Minecraft, Subway Surfers, GTA, Fortnite, Temple Run, Mario Kart, cooking and more, in 9:16 and 16:9. Paid plans can upload their own.
One-click captions
The main clip is transcribed and captioned with word timing, in 104 languages. 17 styles, placed with a slider.
Speed and position per clip
Each half has its own speed (0.1x to 2x) and position slider, so the action sits where you want it.
Live preview and drafts
The video plays in the editor as you change it, and every change autosaves, so you can come back later.

Every export is 1080x1920 for TikTok, Reels and Shorts. No watermark on these formats.
Frequently asked questions.
Can I try it without an account?
Yes. The editor opens from this page without signing in and the preview plays as you edit. Generating voiceovers and exporting the finished video need a Clippie plan or topped-up minutes.
Which clip provides the sound?
The main clip, on top or on the left. The second clip is muted so gameplay sounds never compete with the voice.
Can I use my own gameplay?
Yes, on a paid plan: upload an mp4, mov, avi or webm as either clip. Everyone can pick from the 417 clips in the library.
Are the captions automatic?
Yes. One click transcribes the main clip and generates word-timed captions, in 104 languages with auto-detect. You pick the style, size and position.
Can the two clips be side by side instead of stacked?
Yes. A toggle switches between top-and-bottom and left-and-right; the main clip stays on top or on the left.
What resolution is the export?
1080x1920 at 30 fps, the vertical format for TikTok, Reels and Shorts.
Is there a watermark?
No. Exports from this editor have no watermark on any plan.
